Regan Smith had been breaking swimming records since she was seven. By the time Park Stories filmed her ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, she had already set three world records and established herself as one of the fastest swimmers alive. The records were already there. What interested us was the young woman learning how to carry expectations that had arrived long before adulthood.

Since then, Regan has won eight Olympic medals — including five in Paris — and continued breaking world records.
